Sex and the city mania!

The release of the new sex and the city film is just over a month away and counting! The release of the latest trailer last week has got me even more excited to see it and got me speculating what will happen. Having already read some spoilers for it, I'm excited to see what actually happens. The return of Aiden in the trailer and Carrie's reaction surely can't mean she cheats on Big with Aiden, having previously cheated on Aiden with Big?!

One of the main focuses of the film is also the clothes the cast are wearing, most importantly, Carrie, especially after THE Dior gladiator heels in the last film! The choice of outfits in the trailer is interesting, I love the pink dress and Gloria Swanson turban worn in the clip of the girl arriving in Morocco, but Carrie in a waiter's uniform, really? Not even the oh-so stylish Carrie Bradshaw pulls that off!

The woman is fickle, n'est ce pas?

Having dropped the "fcuk" campaign, French Connection have taken on a grown-up approach to advertising their brand this year with the use of their simple campaigns. Portraying a strong independent woman, the brand have used simple phrases of "This is the woman" and "eat meat, dress well" for the men's range, to symbolise the stereotypical manly role. As the title suggests, the new launch of French Connection is all about the clothes. Taking a sophisticated design, the brand has well and truly left it's "too busy to fcuk" etc days behind and released a sophisticated, well designed range making most the collection top of my wish-list.

What is style..?

Being a fashion student, I have to keep up-to date on all the goings on of the fashion world and one of the ways is buying plenty of magazines (that's my excuse anyway). Flicking through Grazia the other day, I came across an article saying how in a recent European Poll, Britain was voted as having the worst Fashion sense throughout Europe. I was quite puzzled by this, having one of the best high-streets around and plenty of designer talent, I don't understand how we can be described as the worst around. Considering the amount of style icons we have coming out of Britain - Kate Moss, Alexa Chung, Sienna Miller etc how do countries such as Poland, Serbia, Denmark have better style? It's safe to say I can't name a single person from any of these countries who I think "ooh they have really good style" and I doubt anyone else could name a person either. Sure they have their own fashion in their countries, but it's not something recognized world over.

Granted we may not compare to the ultra chic cities like Paris or Milan, but with London being one of the world's fashion capitals, I think it's safe to say were amongst some of the best. Tracksuits and general "what were you thinking" people aside, It's safe to say Britain has got style. Having spent a majority of last summer visiting my parents in Slovenia, I saw how a slightly less modern country dress. Not that they haven't got a clue, I wouldn't rank them top on the best dressed list. I think the European Poll needs to re-evaluate itself and take a closer look at what they think style is.
